Ekannoborti is a unique project in terms of the functions accommodated in this mixed-use residential complex. The whole function of the owning family is already existing in an old residential building in the old part of Dhaka, where the family lives and works in the same building. As the existing compound is a very haphazard compilation of old and new construction, and unable to address the increasing space demand, the owning family has decided to shift the total function to a new architecture in a different location of Dhaka city.
Primary concept behind design of this complex came from a tree-like-tier which represents the legacy of family and business. The family business is the root, first generation (owner & family) is the hypothetical stem and the new generations are branches and leaves at the edge and the top. This hypothetical tier has been materialized into architecture during organization of spaces. To sum up, the architecture of Ekannoborti is a heartfelt attempt to create a hypothetical bottle that holds the beautiful memories and times in it.
